A Baptist Church Thats A Little Bit Different

A Congregation of Equals
The right of the indiviual to approach God with no other mediator than Jesus Christ, the responsibility of each Christian to consel with and intercede for others, and the concept that we are all priests are all confirmed by the Scriptures. Seventh Day Baptists have adhered to these beliefs for over three hundred and fifty years, and they have shaped their polity. This conviction has led local congregations to struggle for freedom from any form of coercion other than the inner coercion of the Holy Spirit. The concept of the priesthood of all believers has been the root of both local church autonomy and the associational principle.
The local Seventh Day Baptist Church is autonomous; it organizes as it feels God leads it to organize. It accepts programs and procedures through prayer and dedicated labor in the guidance God's Spirit gives. Thus, the congregation is responsible for adequate organization. It is responsible, not to an organization, nor to a man, but to God. It is He to whom the church reports, and it is He who judges the worth of the Church.
