...is an outreach of Paint Rock Seventh Day Baptist Church, a member of the General Conference of Seventh Day Baptist Churches of the United States and Canada. Seventh Day Baptist churches share the core beliefs of Baptists all over the world. We believe in Salvation by Grace, in the deity of our Lord Jesus, and in the supremacy of the Holy Bible in setting the standard for all our beliefs.
The first Seventh Day Baptist church was established in America in 1671 in Rhode Island.1 We have a historical and doctrinal heritage in common with other Baptist denominations. Seventh Day Baptists do not look to any individual as the founder of our denomination nor to any extra-Biblical prophet to define our doctrines. While there are many Sabbath keeping denominations with a wide range of histories and beliefs - and we welcome fellow believers with open arms as our family in Christ - we are distinctly Baptist. Please keep this in mind if you are exploring our Sabbath beliefs to understand Sabbath-keeping friends or loved ones. If they are from a non-Baptist or non-Evangelical denomination, our reasons and practices for embracing the Seventh-Day Sabbath may be different from theirs.
